Hello! I'm so excited to be your teacher and I can't wait to learn and grow with you this year!
I grew up in the Seattle area and spent most of my childhood there before moving to South Dakota when I was in middle school. I graduated from SDSU (Go BIG, Go BLUE, Go JACKS!) in 2012. After college, my high school sweetheart Austin and I got married and we currently reside in Sioux Falls with our son Porter, dog Trigger and cat Luna. We are excited to announce that we have another little one on the way! Baby Hazel is due the end of June :)
This year marks my 6th year in education and my second year with the Harrisburg School District. Before becoming a Tiger I taught 2nd Grade in Parker and before that I taught Head Start in both Vermillion and Pierre. I have loved each part of my journey this far and am thrilled to now be teaching 1st Grade!
I enjoy spending time with friends and family and doing most outdoor activities such as: camping, kayaking, gardening and hiking. I also really enjoy reading and traveling! If I wasn't called to be a teacher, my dream job would be a photographer for National Geographic or a professional coffee taster (if this job even exists!) My favorite quote is, "Everybody is genius but if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid." - Albert Einstein
